Adventure Summary: 10/09/10
The party maneuvered along the wall searching for a entrance to the ancient city. Antaris did some history checks to find out more about the city and it's place in the jungle. He recalled roughly a 1000 years ago, a joint venture by the Elves of Everska and the surrounding human kingdoms planned a project where they would start a settlement within the Nelanther Isles in an effort to civilize and stabilize the region.
Sadly, the colony fell pray to petty disputes and disruptions as the Elves were angered by the humans power grabs, and the humans were frustrated with the Elves apparent indecisiveness.
The city was abandoned only a few decades after its insertion, and of course, fell into historic obscurity.
As the party approached one of the main entrances of the city they were beset by threatening foliage that lashed out and attacked Kiva and Antaris with electrically charged vines. Kalindor attacked the vine, causing it to retreat within the crumbling walls.
Kiva and Antaris discovered the locking mechanism of the gate, and using Kiva's apparently superior strength (wink), managed to get it open for the rest of the party.
The group entered the city and took note of the ancient streets, cobblestone walkways pockmarked with grass and decay, and crumbling buildings. Following a trail that took them from the crashed airship site, Elmmorra had a great lead that appeared to head towards the center of the city.
Trekking along, the group encountered a green fog obscuring the trail and offering limited options for pursuing through the area. Elmmorra summoned a wind effect that blew the green fog away revealing creatures lying in wait for unwary adventurers.
A massive battle then ensued, with Valiant brilliantly drawing the creatures attention with his divine abilities. The players attacked a Battlebriar and a 3 tomb spiders, the slug-fest taking most of the night to conclude with Elmmorra and Kalindor providing excellent combat support. Istarel also contributed to the fight, displaying very unique abilities, such as tremendous strength and quick movement for someone of her average size.
After the gruesome fight, the party collected some treasure (presumably left by other less lucky adventurers) and magic items which were then dispersed to the party. The trek then began anew to the city center, and what else may lie in wait.
