Adventure Summary 08/29/09:
The End of Chapter 1: Valley of Darkness
The party resumed their fight against the demons that were pouring out from the portals, it was a tough encounter, but the group eventually prevailed thankfully suffering no losses.
The mysterious mages whisked themselves away, along with the Baron Van Grimm, as the valley of Windbourne settled into ruin. Between the destruction of the shrine, the desecration of St. Joseph’s vault, the portal demons, floods, and high winds, the Windbourne valley appears to have come under the curse it had lifted itself from roughly a half century ago.
Attempting to recover some semblance of order, the town guard asked the party to investigate the manor of Baron Van Grimm and find evidence of his treachery.
The group infiltrated his home, ransacking the manor home and making off not only with damming evidence of his participation in what happened with the town of Windbourne, but a large number of Van Grimm family heirlooms, jewels, gold, and an ornate magical chandelier that lit the Baron’s entry room to his lavish mansion.
Once knowledge of the Baron’s involvement in what happened with the town circulated, a mob of villagers burnt the Baron’s residence to the ground and ransacked his lands for anything they could lay their hands on.
One item of curious note was apparently an ancient treasure uncovered in the mansion and identified by the party’s cleric as very old holy symbol of Pelor. Further investigation is pending.
The evidence was reviewed by the town officials, and it was requested of the party to follow-up with the contract regarding the Thieves Guild of West Haven located.
The party made preparations to visit the town of West Haven, a lively seaport town located on the Sword Coast, to get more clues as to the reasons behind the actions of Van Grimm, and his involvement with the mysterious mages.
