The party continued on through to the plateau climbing an icy set of stairs upon their floating disks. Antaris and Kiva scouted ahead, encountering what appeared to be another Frosthorn patrolling a crevasse near the top of the stairs.
The party attempted to initiate talks with the Minotaur, but it went berserk and attacked the group. It was ferocious fight, ending with a spectacular move by Valiant flinging the Frosthorn over the side of the crevasse, and plunging several stories down. Not dead, the party considered ways to finish the creature off when a elder Blizzard Dragon appeared named Nelushia.
The Dragon approached the party, Valiant communicating with him about the groups purposes and intent. Nelushia understood the situation, and brought the party forth to a altar of warmth of brightness. A flame erupted from the altar producing a fatherly warm face which Valiant recognized as the ancient incarnation of Amaunator (Pelor).
The image spoke a riddle which Kalindor deciphered, revealing an ancient parchment of lost history of the staff. It spoke of the Head of Pelor, the upper body of the staff, a staff composed of incredibly hard and shiny crystal, that was entrusted to a member of the pelorian clergy millenniums ago. The upper staff section was taken into the far east of the realms, but several natural disasters and other inexplicable events caused the hiding place to fall into the underworld of the realms. The party reasoned that it was last seen near the Underchasm, a rending of the crust of Toril, exposing a section of the Underdark.
Nelushia also was able to impart upon the party the true nature of the staff. It was originally developed to transport large parties of clerics over vast distances accurately. Instead, an unintended effect of the staff was that it not only transcended space, but time. Realizing the danger inherent with such a magic item, the church broke the staff through a special ritual and hid it's pieces over the far reaches of the realms.
While only a devout and pious follower of Pelor/Amaunator is able to actually utilize the artifact, it is not unrealistic that a such a person or creature could be scammed or manipulated into using the completed staff for what they think is a good cause.
The party was given a copy of the long parchment, which only they could be able to read, unless a magic user of high enough power broke the enchantment upon it.
They were then ported back to the isle of Evermeet, appearing in the ruins of a temple outside the capital city, of which they made their way back to the Queen's Blessing.
